WWI hero John Lewis Barkley received the Medal of Honor for his extraordinary acts of valor displayed on Oct. 7, 1918. You can normally see the medal on display at the Museum alongside his striking portrait. Since we're closed, we're bringing the story of Barkley's experience to you through previously recorded videos with his daughter and our Senior Curator.Barkley died on this day in April 14, 1966, but his memory lives on.
